Soft-loan facility
Patient capital, up to 80% of project cost.
IITG-TIC may offer a soft loan — entirely dependent on the availability of funds, grants and schemes meant for the purpose. We approach government, private and public-sector agencies for grants whenever the opportunity arises.
Soft loans are sanctioned only to registered companies. Admission to IITG-TIC does not automatically entitle a company to a loan, and disbursement follows the guidelines of the underlying funding agency.
The total loan available depends on the funding agency's criteria. As a guideline, soft loans cover up to 80% of project cost — with minimum simple interest where the underlying scheme permits.
Government schemes
Startup India, OIL, NEDFi.
We help incubatees navigate the major schemes available to early-stage ventures — Startup India, the OIL India Fund and NEDFi Venture among them.
The documentation is half the battle. We've filed many of these before; the programme team will sit with you to assemble a serious application, not a hopeful one.
TIC and CSR activities
Corporates can fund technology incubation.
Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013 requires qualifying corporates to spend 2% of average net profits on Corporate Social Responsibility projects. Contributions to technology business incubators located within Central-Government-approved academic institutions qualify under Schedule VII, item (ix).
IITG-TIC is a non-profit technology business incubator hosted at IIT Guwahati since 2009 — one of the first in the North-East — supported by the Technology Development Board (TDB) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The centre runs across 15,000+ sq ft of infrastructure and has incubated ~19 companies to date.
Corporates can associate with IITG-TIC to implement projects in relevant technology areas, social innovation, or to fund the incubation programme directly. Write to inchargetic@iitg.ac.in or call +91 361 258 3191 to start a conversation.
